Our story: a kopitiam for every kaki
Kopi Kaki Social Club is a free, Singapore-made, retro pixel-art multiplayer social game, now in beta, that you play in your web browser: a virtual kopitiam where Singaporeans make friends online and chill. Chat, call your kakis, play board games and arcade mini-games, adopt a pet, work jobs for Kaki Dollars and decorate your own room.
The inspiration
In Singapore, the kopitiam is where everyone meets. Uncles argue about football over kopi O, students chope tables with tissue packets, and old friends catch up over kaya toast. Your kopi kakis are the people you keep coming back to sit with. Nobody needs a reason to sit down, and nobody minds if you stay for one cup or three hours.
Life gets busy. School, work, National Service, long commutes and time overseas make it harder to catch up with the kakis who matter, and harder still to make new ones. We missed that easy, drop-in feeling, where you walk in, spot a familiar face and just pull up a stool.
What we wanted to build
We grew up loving social worlds where you could walk into a room, sit down and start talking to someone. We wanted that again, with a Singapore heart: kopitiams and hawker centres, void decks and the Merlion, Singlish in the chat, a game of Chinese chess on the table, and a pet at your feet.
Kopi Kaki Social Club is a place to connect, make friends and chill. It is not about grinding, spending or winning. Play a round of Shadow Court with strangers who become friends, call your kakis while you all play at the funfair, take your otter for a walk at the dog run, or just sit on the big orange couch and see who walks in.
What we believe
- Free for everyone. Everything can be played without paying. The only extras are optional premium currencies for rare furniture and bigger rooms, and you can never earn them, or need them, to hang out. It should be about the kakis, not the wallet.
- Safe and friendly. For players aged 13 and up, with filtered chat, block and report tools and moderators. Read the safety guide.
- Easy on the eyes. Retro pixel art for the pictures, and the plain, legible Atkinson Hyperlegible typeface for all the words, so everyone can read comfortably.
- Made in Singapore. From the places to the food to the way we talk.
